Meet the Artist

Lorri hails from the Maritimes. She grew up in a large, loving family, along a river in New Brunswick. Her travels brought her from the East coast to the West to Vancouver, where she fell in love with the city and the natural beauty that abounds there. A well rounded graphic artist, Lorri has a strong interest in many aspects of visual art: from painting and sketching; to design and architecture; but her passion has always been photography. As she puts it: “I studied life, as I was always interested in it, and I find that it becomes most clear to me when looking through a lens”.

She has studied at the New York Institute of Photography, where she won several Awards of Merit, and received her diploma in Professional Photography. She later went on to further expand her skills at Langara College and at The Emily Carr University of Art and Design.

Lorri is a published photographer with her work featured in newspapers, magazines and articles, as well as in books. Collections of her work have also been shown in Galleries. She is best known however, for her candid shots of Vancouver, the city she loves so dearly. Her discerning eye has captured some essence of the city whether of a resident (feline or human), of the architecture, or of the natural beauty that envelopes each neighbourhood.

Special Edition BC Series

My first Special Edition BC Series celebrates my beautiful home, British Columbia Canada. You will see a variety of unique and familiar scenes.

Whistler has always impressed me with its beauty!

The first time I visited Whistler with my husband, who is an accomplished skier (in contrast to me who had never skied while living in New Brunswick), I was floored by the size and presence of the mountains. How majestic they were, like a King of Nature. I was impressed to say the least.

Being from the East coast of Canada I had not seen such a sight as this. It was “love at first sight”! Being outside is my therapy and my release. I prefer to be outside until the lights go out, so to speak. This is not new, I have always felt this way and as a child would have to be yelled at to come in at night. I was snowshoeing in Whistler on a bright, crisp, sunny day when I took this shot, I spotted the scene and it filled me with joy and reminded me of my snowy childhood memories and the hope of new memories here in B.C. I believe that this print can be interpreted by the viewer as to how it makes you feel.
